General Discipline
In disciplining children, the goal is that they have a clear understanding of the specific behavior for which they are being disciplined and for the consequences that follow.
Classroom Discipline
Each teacher will develop and visibly display a progressive discipline system for his/her classroom, consistent with school and district policies. The teacher will make the system known to students and parents.
Cafeteria, Playground and Assembly Discipline
In the above-mentioned areas, the following progressive discipline system will be used with students.
Step 1: The student will be given a verbal warning. The adult will label the inappropriate behavior to the child.
Step 2: If the behavior continues, the students will be removed for the situation for the remainder of the activity or until he/she is ready to return to the classroom. The supervising adult will alert the appropriate staff.
Step 3: If the behavior persists, the student will meet with the principal.
Step 4: The parent will be notified and may be asked to attend a meeting at the school to help resolve the situation.
