Locate and name letters on the keyboard

Demonstrate use of delete and backspace keys

Locate and name space bar, return/enter key, shift key, and demonstrate their function

Demonstrate correct keyboard posture

  a) sitting on a chair with back straight and feet on floor

  b) wrists elevated, fingers curved, and tips of fingers on keys

  c) body centered with the keyboard (not the mouse)

Demonstrates hand placement on left and right sides of keyboard

Locate and name how row keys

Demonstrates correct keyboarding posture and finger placement for home row

Demonstrate ability to consistently use a grade level keyboarding program independently

Demonstrates beginning word processing keyboarding; enter 'home row' words

15 words per minute with 3 or fewer errors

Begins to demonstrate the ability to take dictation
