My philosophy that I live and teach by is that "Life is a Celebration...and Music is a Celebration of Life"!!!

I believe that music is essential to our lives. It is the expression of all elements of the human condition...our pain, our joy, our uncertainty, and our aspirations. Therefore...music is an expression of one's self!

At Cougar Ridge the students explore music through "hands on" involvement through singing, dancing, playing the keyboards, playing the rhythm instruments, recorders (4th and 5th grade students), creative movement, listening, creating, and discovery! We discuss composers, music history and how this fits in to their world today!

I believe that all students innately love music and it is my job to teach them to listen critically and understand all kinds and styles of music; and to appreciate all music. My philosophy is to teach in a way that students understand the joy that music brings to our lives .
