Hello P7 Families and Students ~ I am so excited for the 2007-2008 school year! I always look forward to getting to know a new group of students and their families, and to a great year of learning together. My goal is for this website to be a way for you to know what is going on in your child's classroom and to answer as many questions as possible. Please contact me with any questions or concerns! A little about myself and my philosophy: I love teaching! It is a hard, challenging job, but completely rewarding. The best part is developing relationships with kids. I believe that every kid who walks through my door has special gifts and talents, no matter what academic level they may be at, and I want to give each student a chance to shine. I also want to challenge each student academically and to nurture a love of learning in everyone in my class. School needs to be challenging, rewarding, but also fun, and I try to create a classroom environment that supports these goals. I want my students to be independent, critical thinkers, to be able to problem solve, to work cooperatively with others, to respect others despite differences, and to be curious about the world around them. In my spare time, I love hanging out with my husband and my pets (Dawson the dog and Fernando the cat), jogging, hiking, shopping at flea markets, painting and creating, listening to music, reading amazing books, traveling, napping, and thinking about how I can inspire my students more. ~Mrs. Westfall My Contact Information: The best way to contact me is via email, as I check it several times a day.
